Everything founders, agencies, and product teams ask before their first governance engagement. Answered directly.
AI code governance is the structured process of taking a codebase generated by AI coding tools — Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Lovable, v0, Bolt and others — and validating it against the security, compliance, performance, maintainability, and legal standards required for a commercial production environment. AI tools produce code that functions. Governance produces code that's defensible.
AI coding tools optimise for speed and functional correctness — not for the security posture, compliance obligations, scalability requirements, or documentation standards that a commercial product demands. Common issues we find include authentication vulnerabilities, GDPR non-compliance, open-source licensing conflicts, missing error handling, undocumented architecture, and code that works for ten users but fails at scale. None of these are visible in a demo.
We review code generated by any AI coding tool: Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Lovable, v0 by Vercel, Bolt.new, Replit Agent, Devin, GPT-4o and Codex, Gemini Code Assist, Tabnine, and Codeium — as well as any combination of AI-generated and human-written code. Each tool has distinct patterns and characteristic blind spots in production contexts.
The most frequent findings in our governance reviews: authentication logic that appears to work but contains exploitable bypass conditions; hardcoded secrets and API keys in the codebase; missing input validation creating injection vulnerabilities; GDPR non-compliance including consent gaps and PII in logs; open-source licence conflicts (particularly GPL libraries incompatible with commercial use); missing documentation that makes the codebase unmaintainable; and AI model components that produce inconsistent, biased, or hallucinated outputs under real-world conditions.
Every AI-generated codebase is different — in size, complexity, technology stack, and what it needs to satisfy (an investor, an enterprise client, a regulatory body, or a consumer launch). We scope each engagement individually so you're paying for what your specific product needs, not a generic package. Contact us with a description of what you've built and what your next milestone is, and we'll give you a scope and indicative cost within 4 hours.
Timeline depends on codebase size, the governance tier selected, and how many findings require remediation. A Basic Governance engagement typically completes in 5-10 business days. Standard Governance runs 2-3 weeks. Advanced Governance with full certification is typically 3-5 weeks. We can discuss expedited timelines for imminent investment processes or launch deadlines.
Both. We identify every issue in the governance review and provide a detailed remediation roadmap — but we can also fix the code directly. For clients who want a complete handover, we take the codebase from AI-generated prototype through governance and remediation to a production-ready, fully documented, CI/CD-enabled product. This is the full managed pathway.
On completion of Advanced Governance, we issue a governance certification document confirming that the codebase has been taken through our full 10-stage governance process by CREST Approved Logic Software Ltd. The certificate includes: governance stages completed, critical findings identified and remediated, compliance status, and an executive summary formatted for investor or enterprise use. Several clients have included this directly in their investment data room.
Governance makes your product ready. The DevOps add-on makes it continuously deliverable. We set up secure repository infrastructure, automated CI/CD pipelines from code commit to production deployment, environment configuration, automated testing gates, monitoring and alerting, and provide full documentation so your development team can operate the pipeline independently. Available as an add-on to any governance tier, or as a standalone engagement.
If your product includes AI components — recommendations, classification, content generation, scoring, or any output that affects users — those components need validation beyond functional testing. We assess outputs for consistency, bias across protected characteristics, edge case behaviour, hallucination risk, and confidence calibration. We also document the human oversight and intervention points and produce monitoring recommendations for ongoing operation.
AI coding tools are trained on vast corpora of code — including GPL, AGPL, and other copyleft-licensed code. They may reproduce or closely derive from licensed material. Beyond the code itself, your product's dependencies may include open-source libraries with licences incompatible with commercial use. We audit your full dependency tree and generated code for IP risk, licensing conflicts, and legal exposure — before these become costly discoveries in an investor's legal review.
Use the contact form or email us at andrew.davidson@logicsoftware.co.uk. Tell us what you built, which AI tool you used, what stage you're at (prototype, pre-launch, pre-raise), and what your next milestone requires. We'll respond within 4 hours on business days with an initial scope and what we'd need to formalise an engagement.
